Here we are on the 1st day of August!! I have always found August to be a bit of a sad month when I was a kid - August is the unofficial ending of summer, which of course is to be followed by back-to-school!  Here in Toronto the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) opens in mid August - which really signifies the end of the season.

The birthstone for August is Peridot, the flower of this month are the Gladiolus or Poppy and the zodiac sign for this month is the outgoing sign of Leo, which winds up on the 22nd - and the sign of Virgo begins on the 23rd - running through to the 22nd of September.
