The Purpose Driven Life - Day 4

Day 4 - Made To Last Forever

This chapter speaks to Eternal Life and how we must prepare for it during our time here on earth.  To live life eternal with our Heavenly Father after we leave this place, we must live a Christ centered life while we are here.  The problem is that many people either don't believe in Eternal life - or they think that they have time here on earth - or they think that this is all there is.

The truth of the matter is that even if we live to be a hundred years old here on this earth - when measured against our eternal lives in the hereafter, it is but a blip on the screen.  Consider your time in the womb - you are alive .. but you are being prepared for life after birth.  We need to carry that thinking a step further and realizes that life after birth is the preparation for our true life after what is perceived as death.  The death of our earthly bodies, when in fact as our bodies die .. this becomes our true birthday - the beginning of our eternal life with God.

Pastor Rick reminds us that we are already hard wired this way..  How many times have you said "I'll love you for all of eternity"? Our spirit already recognizes that indeed we do measure against eternity.  Not just the here and now.

Life comes in phases.  We spend 40 weeks in the womb.  Followed by 16 years as a child. Followed by up to another 6 or 7 or 8 decades as an adult.  But the problem is that many people stop there.  When that is not the end, indeed it is only the beginning.  What people need to realize is that we are energy and what we do here vibrates to the heavens and once our life here is done - and we face judgement, God will evaluate our time here on earth.  There is nothing that we do in our earthly form that God does not know about.  And every thing we do here has a consequence ... we must - and will answer for every act.  Have we accepted Jesus as our Saviour? Do we walk in line with God? How you answer these questions determines how you will spend eternity.

Will it be in God's presence with faithful loved ones who have gone before you?

Or will it be somewhere else?

"This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever." - 1 John 2:17 (NLT)
